Looking forward to it

Post by Hobby »

I'm planning on being there Saturday and maybe for Sunday. Bringing some new folks who may want to join. The farm where I have my alpacas is just a short distance down the road if anyone wants to camp nearby with facilities. You're welcome to stop by and see the alpacas and the horses. Looking forward to my first trip in a LONG LONG time. Hope to see some of your shining faces. Looking forward to Footprints on the James. ~Hobby

Looks like another fine annual gathering coming up. I too look forward to Professor Vonesh's presentation. Just called Andrea and I will be up mid-day to help the cooks.

This is always a lovely event - great food, relaxing & beautiful river, old & new friends.

Hey there to Hobby! Long time to see! Will be wonderful to catch up.

Ken & I will be pulling out his 40+ year old aluminum canoe for its annual run.

Hope to see a good crowd!

We've got three people to help out in the kitchen. Thank you, David, Caroline, and Sally! We wouldn't mind having a couple more. Do you want to learn some Dutch oven cooking? Mark will certainly be willing to instruct. Please let us know.

Does anyone have a Dutch oven? I am talking about the ones that have three legs underneath and a lid that allows charcoal briquettes to sit on top. If you do, please LET ME KNOW for planning purposes and bring it by the hall on Saturday AM. If it hasn't been used in a while (rusty, dry, etc), please pre-season it for us as we won't have the time to do that on Saturday. We promise that we will return the DO to you cleaned and dried from our efforts. An additional DO or two would really help us out.

If you can help out on Friday night to get the pig on the grill and cover shifts to keep an eye on it, please let us know or just come by the hall. If we are asleep when you get there, just pull up, park, and catch a few winks yourself. We will likely be up about 11:30 - midnight to work on the pig. You can leave a note on the door of Tom's camper if you want to let us know you are here and which car to wake you up in, but please don't wake Tom up too soon. Be sure to bring a clean pair of leather or cotton gloves for handling the pig and warm clothing as it gets chilly in the wee hours of the morning and the cooker only puts off so much heat. . . . .

12 inch Dutch Oven

Post by Amphibious »

I can bring a 12 inch Dutch Oven if needed. I'll plan to bring it. I am not sure of my way around, but I think I can drop in SAT am on way to put in.
