OCT Shenandoah on Sept 7

Post by martha james »

Join us for the ice cream run on the Shenandoah, Newport to White House Landing. The forecast is for a lovely day with a nice water level. We'll meet at the put-in in Newport at 10:30 and run shuttle. Let me know who's coming.

Directions ? Humm... The best I can tell you is that the put-in is on rt 340, north of Elkton. It's marked as a river access, maybe boat ramp, on the right, right after the campground and Kites Store. Does this help?

this map has the put in and takeout for this section marked

The link Machias posted (and now (Poof!) has deleted it - thanks) goes from Newport to Alma, not White House landing. Alma is roughly a third of the way down the usual run.

Alpinestyle, find your way to 29 north of C'ville. Turn left on 33 at Ruckersville. Cross the mountain and turn right (north) on 340 in Elkton. From there it's about 13 miles to the boat landing just north of Newport.

Depending on where you are in Scottsville expect it to take about 1-3/4 hours.

Cheers,

Ken

The attached shows the Shuttle Route for the Newport to Whitehouse run on Saturday, 9/7. "A" is the put in and "B" is the takeout. --Dennis
