Rappahannock Camper Aug 24 - low water

Post by larry gross »

At this point there is about 150 cfs in the Rappahannock at Kelly's Ford (about 350 at Fredericksburg) and that's pretty low for boats with camping gear and would make a long day to get somewhere close to the confluence with the Rapidan from Kelly's Ford.

Rappahannock Campground - about 4 miles from the confluence is now closed.

I would entertain options from those still interested - to include perhaps other rivers especially if you have a section you've done and like.

Larry, just to let you know that I am still interested in the camping week ends that you post on Coastals, but the 8/24&25 weekend is out for me regardless of where you find water. ---Dennis

looks to be peaking at 200 cfs on Rappahannock.. about 500 cfs on Rapidan.

we could come down on Rapidan side to confluence.. then decent water to Motts...

The Rappahannock is a more tolerable trip in terms of distance if set up for two nights camping... that allows folks from afar to meet at 9-10am ..do shuttle and get on water noonish then 8-10 miles down to 3-4 miles above confluence then spend night 2 at Hole-in-the-wall then 6 miles out the 3rd day...to Motts by noon or so...

I can set this up for fall schedule if there is interest... since Wade just put out call for trips.
