Boat on Friday? Sunday?

Post by David »

Even small creeks are way high right now, and rain is predicted through Thursday, so am willing to adapt to levels and preferences, but up to class 3 and staying in Virginia for a daytrip are my limits.

Tye River from confluence to AT bridge - class 3. Should be up, but gauge is not working. Any first hand reports?

I posted a trip on the class 1-2 Banister River in Southside earlier. It now has 6 times the minimum amount. Banister would be about 2 hours from Richmond, Charlottesville, or Roanoke.

Class 3 creeks of southwest Virginia. I love Elk, Big Reed Island, Chestnut, and especially Whitetop Laurel.

Piedmont rivers west of Richmond - Willis, Slate, or Rivanna. No more than class 2, but wood could be a factor in the first two, so I am not running them too high.

Mainstem James west of Richmond. Fast-moving scenery. Maybe Sunday morning?

If any of these would float your boat or if you have some other idea, post or PM.

Myself and another codger from the east (Hampton Roads) may venture up Monday to run the upper, if it drops below 9'.
Go slow
