Just a heads up...

Post by Wallace »

Gromit and I can make one trip out for Gauley season this year. It's gonna have to be the weekend of 9/30 to 10/2. We'd like to get on the Lower Gauley for sure and maybe the Gorge if the level is right. We're both comfortable on the LG but would appreciate someone more familiar with the river coming along. If you're in a similar spot, I bet we can make something work! Post up, call or email. Thanks!

We apologize to KessmanN and Mangles, but we are covered up with work and family commitments for the GauleyFest and Mangles Anniversary trips.

That's great John! Thanks. Hope it works out.

What are your plans for the weekend? When are you planning on running the Lower Gauley?

Still working on a plan. Looks like a SLIM possibility we can get up there Friday. Most likely, we'll paddle LG on Saturday and Sunday.

OK Plans are finalized. We'll meet at the Swiss takeout at 11ish on Saturday morning. We'll paddle the Lower Gauley from Woods Ferry down to Swiss. Camping at Summersville Lake retreat Saturday night. We're reserving a tent site that's good for 8 adults. So far we have 7 confirmed: Me, Gromit, Ken, Alicia, Wade, Sejal and John VanLuik. Swimmus, if you're still interested, lemme know. Sunday paddle is up in the air. I'm leaning toward the gorge still because the timing is good for the drive home.

Alicia says 1130 at the takeout. So there it is. We obey the lovely Queen. All previous meeting times are officially null and void by Royal Decree. The Queen's Magnificent Proclamation that we meet at 1130 at Swiss is Final and Absolute!!!

Hi Kat.

If by "you guys" you mean Alicia and me, yes, we plan to be there on Saturday. Sunday is a "maybe" for us.

Not asked, but I'd be happy to help steer you away from the uglier parts of the lower Gauley if you'd like. (There aren't all that many.) I don't know every nook nor cranny over there but have a pretty good feel for it.

I also don't know as much of the history of that area so the risk of being bored by such discussions is reduced.

John Van Luik is out. Dave Stockdill and SportsKat are maybes. Mangles, Ken and Alicia, Scooter and Arco want to go for sure. Sganarelle wants to do the Gorge on Sunday for his PFD. I'm having trouble keeping up with all this.

Here's the deal:

I'm gonna be at the Swiss takeout for the Lower Gauley on Saturday 10/1 at 1130. I'm going to set shuttle to Woods Ferry and try to put on the Lower Gauley at 1:30.

If you want to be on this trip, please do two things for me. First POST A REPLY TO THIS THREAD. So I don't have to jump between the board, text messages and emails to figure out who's coming. Second, BE AT SWISS AT 1130 ON SATURDAY. So we can quickly come up with a shuttle plan.

We can work out Sunday's options over dinner Saturday night.

LET'S GO BOATING!!!!

So, what time are we meeting on Saturday? (KIDDING!!!)

Looking forward to it.

Also looking forward to breaking out the drysuit. Along with maybe violating the don't-camp-when-the-temp-is-below-my-age rule (actually more of a guideline). Intellicast at Summersville says high of 51, low of 40 on Saturday, a bit warmer on Sunday.

Cheers,

Ken
