We Now Have A Trip Leader Gauleyfest Upper New River 9/17

Post by Mango »

We Now Have A Trip Leader For The Upper New River Gorge (Thurmond to Cunard), Gauleyfest Saturday 9/17. :D
He is Chris Dobroth and can be reached by:
e-mail dobrothcw@hotmail.com
phone 804-513-8203
Let him know if you would like to join this trip on the Upper New River Gorge (Thurmond to Cunard) the Saturday of Gauleyfest.
And because of the PRO Shuttle, you will be off the river in time to go to Gauleyfest.
This will be in conjunction with the Lower New River Gorge Trip led by KessmanN. We will all meet at the
Burnwood Campground the morning of Sat Sept 17th, usually, ready to pull out at 10am, but that will be
determined and posted later. Burnwood is across from the Visitors Center.

Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out and loudly proclaiming....WOW What a ride! . . . . . Trying to live up to this, Priceless. As long as you have good insurance!

Still haven't heard from anyone so I thought I'd say hi, at least bump this back to the top.

This should be a good level for the Upper New, a little extra water makes the pools go by quicker  It's a Class II+ run with one Class III drop that's easy to sneak by.

We've got at least 5 boaters with us, some new some more seasoned and looking forward to the trip. We won't be camping this year but I'll be by to say hi Friday night.

Looks we've got a good group forming up. Weather should be a little cool and clear this weekend. Which is good, for some reason I don't like paddling in the rain...

See you guys in camp

Looks like a good time. One SBC student is riding up with me to join your trip. Thanks for putting this together.
