April Fool's Day

Post by open boater »

Trying to take advantage of the day, is anyone looking to paddle on Friday? I plan on leaving Richmond Friday AM, with the chocolate cake but without the baker.
I'm open to any suggestions, skill level approprate.

Tom,

I have been waffling back and forth about coming to this year since I haven't been in a boat much the past year but, my interest was piqued when I saw Shaggy's post about a room at the motel. Thought about coming up and doing the race thing on Saturday.

If Shaggy still intends to stay home on IR this year and someone hasn't scarfed up the room, what are you thinking about on Friday? Elk R. above town is always an option.....on the way the Cherry in Richwood is as well.
Sorry.....skills aren't sharp enough for anything too tough right now!

Cherry

Cherry would be good, I've never run it. Any other ideas/suggestions?

Thanks for your thoughts, I'm just worried how Dave will fix his broken pride. Oh yeah and his boat too, that doesn't look very good. PITON! :-P

I would not mind hitting something on friday... I was also planning to leave early friday morning with no concrete plans. I have to visit my grandmother in Quinwood sometime durring the weekend, so i may need my own vehicle, otherwise i would say lets ride together.

Tom and David,

Spoke to Mark last night and I am calling the motel about the room today.....however, my skills are a little too rusty to take a quick beatdown on the Cranberry on Friday! I love that little stream but, it's been too long out of the boat to be "out of the boat" in cold water! So, y'all do whatever......I don't want to hose up your plans.....but, if you decide on something easier please yell out my way!

I'm sure we can come up with something that fits your "comfort" level.
Keep an eye on this thread, hopefully we can come to a consensus by Thursday.

Anyone looking to share a ride to/from Charlottesville or somewhere on the way?

I'm looking to depart after working the majority of Friday, and return on Sunday, and staying at the cabin.

PM me

Friday is tomorrow... do we have a plan yet for friday?

And... this may be a shot in the dark, but does anyone climb?? I am gonna bring the climbing gear and try to at least do some bouldering, weather depending of course, since WV is full of rocks that need to be climbed.

I had mentioned the Cherry as a warm up (for me primarily) and Tom seem interested in that option......but, I do not want to speak for him. I can most anything within reason considering my rust....looks like the water is running out up there and the options may be limited. A low water run on the Cranberry is feasible.

I'll PM my phone no. to you and Tom so we can meet if the fates (and water goddess) smile upon us!
I plan to head out toward WV pretty early tomorrow am......probably leaving in the 7am range......at least before 8am.
Do not hesitate to call me!
