OCT Saturday Oct 21: Coordinator’s choice will be on the James

With the rivers being very low in central VA and very little rain in the forecast until the end of the week, this Saturday’s beginner/novice trip will be on the James from New Canton to Columbia.

I haven’t paddled this section before, but I understand it holds its water well and should be fine at these low levels. It’s a 9.5-10 mile long moving water trip with some riffles and class I rapids.

Let’s meet at the New Canton put-in at 10:30am Saturday morning to drop boats then run shuttle.
