Think you might be ready for the Upper Yough? If so here is your chance
What you need:
• Rock-solid rolling ability: not that you have to make the first one every time, but the ability to go for it till you get it is key.
• Class 4 rapid experience: big water, small water, lots of 3+… whatever you’ve got let me know.
• Endurance: sure the current does most of the work but adrenaline can take its toll
• Class IV river reading skills
• Go-for-it attitude!!
Camping:
Tall Oaks Campground
Info on that will be on this thread. http://www.coastals.org/forum/viewtopic ... faca76baf2
Travel Plans:
Meet in Friendsville at the takeout at 1 pm on Friday and 12:30 pm for Saturday
IF there isn’t enough interest for Saturday Then will be paddling the Lower Yough
What you need to do if you want to join me:
If you are a first timer and are interested, please email me with
“Upper Yough First Timer trip” in the subject line.
Please include your “paddling resume”
• Name,
• IF you are a First timer
• The boat you plan to paddle on the Upper Yough,
• Your Favorite river,
• Your Roll reliability,
• The last 3 rivers you have paddle and their levels and how you did on the said rivers i.e. rolls/ swims.
• Did you have fun running them? Where you challenged on them ?
Please don't just show up. The Upper Yough is an advanced skill level river.
I will be screening folks to make sure that we’re not getting in over our heads and to keep the trip safe.
I hope that you all understand why this is necessary.
There is a cap on the number of people I can accept on the trip.
And this is dependent on the number of UY veterans who join the trip.
This is also a call out to all you UY Veterans!
If you feel solid on the UY and would like to help please let me know. You know who you are.
I want to make this as safe a trip as possible. Thanks for your help!
