OCT Maury or Balcony Nov 2
I will be watching the weather and river levels. Rain is forecast for mid-week. If the Maury comes up, my first choice is Rockbridge Baths to Copper Road. If not, then the Balcony Falls section of the James.
The current forecast is for low 30’s to mid 50’s and cloudy, so we’ll meet at 11:00 a.m. at the putin to set shuttle for the trip.
Dress warmly. Maybe there will be some decent fall colors by next Saturday.
Respond here or call/email if you plan to join us.
Check back later in the week for an update on which river we’ll run.

The Maury has enough water, so if it holds, we will meet at 11:00 a.m. at Rockbridge Baths.
Check back in the morning for an update.
Earlier today, there was a road closure near the town of Goshen, so it would only affect someone coming from west of the Pass. If you’re driving from Lexington or similar points east, it wouldn’t affect you.
Here is the official announcement. “Maury River Road is closed for an extended period between Furnace Hill Rd and Old Alleghany Circle due to multiple damaged power poles.”
