Yough/Savage July 4th weekend

Post by open boater »

I have reserved Pavilion # 2 at Tall Oaks for July 1 through July 4. My plan will be to run the Lower Yough Saturday afternoon & Monday morning and the Savage on Sunday. I will also try to squeeze in some bicycle time on the Lower Yough trail. I believe there is also an Upper Yough release that weekend as well. I have not bought any permits as of yet. All are welcome to join, let me know if you have any interest in joining me

Count me in for Saturday and Sunday. I think I also might have some family members joining in duckies again if they didn't wear out their welcome last time. As usual, I probably won't camp, but stay up the road with my folks instead.

Unfortunately, I have had an old knee injury flare up and will not be able to go on this trip. I have not cancelled the campground reservation so if anyone still would like to go they can use it-I will cancel by Friday 6-24 if there is no interest.

Sorry to hear about the knee, Tom. I am still planning to head up there that weekend, I won't be using the campground though.

Looks like Gromit & I will camp at Tall Oaks and follow Tom's original plan. We will go up sometime on Friday. Join us! PA's cooler than NC, and you don't have to paddle the Ocoee.

Brian, Jason, and I will paddle LY on Sat and Mon. Brian and I will run Savage on Sun. We'll camp at Tall Oaks. Prefer 12:30pm or later meeting on Sat so can drive from Blacksburg Sat AM.

Liz and I are going up Friday. No real timeline for that yet. We will likely go set up camp and then go to Ohiopyle, and try to get a shuttle. Saturday 7/2, we have 2 permits for noon. There were 24 remaining for noon, and all 30 left for 1pm. Sunday we will paddle the Savage. The release should start around 10 and run to 4. Liz has to work Monday, so we will break camp before heading to the Savage on Sunday, so we can head home from Bloomington. Hope to see yous there!

Slight change of plan. We're driving up Saturday morning. Meet at grassy knoll at noonish.
