I would like to join with my Perception Torrent sit-on-top on Sunday. How far is this place from Downtown Richmond? Could you post the exact address/directions please? Thanks.

Re: Upper James on 10/29

Well, this writing won't be nearly as interesting as Rony's from last Sunday's Upper James run but here goes... Great afternoon on the Upper James. The level was high and the current was fast (13,000 cfs). Glenzilla provided superb guidance and encouragement and BW came along in a sit-on-top. There...

Rony - all you do is go to vcu.edu and then search OAP. You'll go right to the page. The OAP folks are great and there's still room in the 10/31 class. The pain is that you must register in person at the Cary St. gym and the OAP office is not open all the time. And I was thinking - there really was...

YOAD: Actually that secondary thing helped me out earlier in the trip couple of times, but clearly I need more practice. Would be nice to be able to paddle under your wings again. John: Thanks for the offer. That's very nice of you. My work schedule keeps me occupied on weekdays 8-6, leaving me with...

Thanks for the wonderful comments everybody, and thanks for your encouraging words Wallace, Andy, Gromit and Glenzilla about the swimming! I had a great time yesterday. I must add that now I have an added energy to learn to roll. Over the course of the next few weeks, I will take a couple of rolling...

Man! I almost wish we were staying in town this weekend. Hopefully, someone else will step up for you. Have a great time. Thanks Wallace, I wish you were here too. Last weekend I wanted to go so bad with you all, but then I had to go to nyc to meet up with some old pals. Hopefully next time. I will...

Thanks YeOldeAndDecrepite for taking me down the river and for all the valuable lessons in the process. Sitting in the claustrophoebic cockpit of a whitewater kayak certainly felt much different from sitting on the top of a sit-on-top kayak that I am used to, but I am glad that, with your coaching, ...

That sounds like a good idea, did not know about that. I will be happy to do that.
I am trying out a Pyranha Inazone 230. I liked the boat and all, just want to get the feel, and also see how I fit in and out of it in water.

Ron

P.S. - Are you coming?

Saturday (Aug 19) Upper James 11am meet at Reedy!

Hello:
Anyone up for the trip? I will be test-paddling a boat. I really want to start in Huguenot Flatwater and head towards Reedy through Pony Pasture. That way we can experience the nice little rapid right before we hit Pony Pasture. Let's meet at 11am @ Reedy. Thanks.

Thanks for the post. I will be there. A little more help on the directions please? Sorry, not very familiar with the area. I will be coming from the West End of Richmond. How can I map it in Mapquest?
