Re: Wed, 6/21/23, Jackson River - Pulse Release
Is there a group forming for 6/21? Don’t see any posts here thus far. Considering coming out, but not sure if it’s “a go”.

Re: O.C.T. New River Rendezvous in WV
The Vonesh-Balcomb family unit (James, Sophia, daughter Asha 13) is in negotiations about whether we can make this happen. I think we are most interested in running the *upper* in our 13 ft raft-probably as an oar boat, as it’s a lot of raft for the 3 of us to paddle raft. But if others are looking ...

Re: Maury River – Buena Vista to Glasgow on 2/19/2022
Thanks,Allen, not sure if we’ve paddled before or not. I kinda think we did Maury below the post office together on a Coastals trip last spring, but could be wrong. That trip I was paddling Jenny’s old purple Outrage for the first time. I’m set for gear and this is well in my wheelhouse (OC1 III+, K...

Re: Maury River – Buena Vista to Glasgow on 2/19/2022
I am interest in this trip and watching the thread. I've not canoed this section - just section above 64 but below Rockbridge Baths. How long is it? Do folks ever link it up with the balcony section of the James (another section I have, surprisingly, not yet run). James Vonesh

Planning to make it
Looking forward to this run. Just renewed my membership. Is there other family stuff to do in the area? Wondering if it is worth bringing family up. Does Craig's Campground have web page? Is this the place? http://www.reserveamerica.com/camping/robert-w-craig/r/campgroundDetails.do?contractCode=NRSO...

Great trip - thanks all
A great weekend with pfds of Lower and Upper G. Paddled with new friends on Lower Friday and Saturday. I was struck by the incredible beauty of the river, especially Canyon Doors area. Wow. Sunday was with Sejal's crew on Upper. She led me down clean lines and her veterans inspired confidence. Pillo...

No rafts for rent
Hi Ken -
Thanks for the reply - just to follow up I spoke with New & Gauley River Adventures, Rivermen, and ACE and none of them will rent you a raft for self guided trips. They said they didn't know anyone who did. So you are right, seems its not quite the same as up at the Yough.

Family runs this weekend? Raft rentals?
New River Rendezvous folks - I am exploring options for coming up from RVA with the family to join in the fun. First, based on Ed's cheat sheet that Barb shared and Ken's comments - a "glades" run on Monday would be a good fit for us. How about Saturday or Sunday? Is anyone thinking of run...

Footprints on the James - Human and Natural History of James
Tomorrow the Footprints class wraps up with a service day in the James River park. Its been a great class - we all learned a ton and paddled the James from Lynchburg to below Hopewell in sea kayaks, canoes, rafts, and a batteau. For more about the course's adventures see: http://news.vcu.edu/article...
